Lab

Students will spend 40% to 50% of the year in lab. Lab partners are chosen by the teacher. Grades in lab are based on individual performance as well as team work. Each student will complete a lab report and each student is responsible for information covered in the lab even if she/he was absent. Groups are necessary for completion of the activity; therefore it is very important that lab groups work together. Also, any lab equipment broken by the student must be replaced.

REQUIRED SUPPLIES:

1. 2 INCH 3-RING BINDER (WITH DIVIDERS)
2. PENCILS AND PENS
3. NOTEBOOK PAPER
4. SPIRAL NOTEBOOK (1 SUBJECT)

***The following supplies are needed in the Biology classroom for labs and special projects. Please bring supplies according to your class period. Note: The items do not have to be new; used items would work as well.

Kleenex
Markers
Paper Towels
Scissors
Glue
Rulers

TARDIES

Students are expected to be in their seat and working on their warm up when the bell rings. If a student is tardy, they must have a pass to enter the classroom. Tardies will be recorded and discipline action will occur through the Assistant Principal's office.

HOMEWORK

Homework will be necessary for completion of class work, practicing problems, or to prepare for the following days activity. Depending on how well the student works in class will determine the workload at home. Not all homework assignments will be collected. However, there might be a pop quiz over homework information

TESTS

Tests are a comprehensive measure of lecture, lab and homework assignments. All major exams will only be allotted 50 minutes of class time. Students are expected to finish in the 50 minutes and will not receive extra time.

STUDY TIME

Biology is a cumulative subject very much like a foreign language. Therefore, it is important to practice on a daily basis. Here are a few tips that will help you to be successful:
1. Re-read notes daily
2. Do your homework!!!
3. Prepare questions from previous days lesson to be addressed at the beginning of the period on the next class day.
4. Arrange for tutoring immediately when you fall behind.
